The ideal candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for clients, overseeing the execution of audit assignments while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role will involve identifying business opportunities, leading a team of professionals, and contributing to the firm’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for audit clients, ensuring timely and effective communication. Address complex client queries and build long-term professional relationships to foster client loyalty.
- Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure that all audit work meets high-quality standards and adheres to Nigerian GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements. Maintain rigorous quality control throughout all audit engagements.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage potential risks during the audit process, safeguarding both the clients and AAC Professional Services against unforeseen challenges and ensuring compliance with risk management policies.
- Technical Expertise and Advisory: Provide clients with expert advice on complex accounting and auditing issues. Share knowledge on regulatory changes and best practices in the audit profession to ensure clients remain compliant.
- Audit Planning and Strategy: Design and implement comprehensive audit plans, including risk assessments and resource allocation. Ensure audit engagements are executed efficiently and effectively, from initiation through to completion.
- Continuous Improvement in Audit Processes: Drive the adoption of innovative audit methodologies and technology to improve the efficiency and accuracy of audit engagements. Lead initiatives to improve the firm’s audit processes and ensure alignment with the industry’s best practices.
- Collaboration with Other Services: Work closely with other teams, including Tax and Advisory, to deliver comprehensive client solutions. Support the identification of cross-selling opportunities to further expand client engagements.
- Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement: Present audit findings and recommendations to client leadership teams, including senior management and boards of directors. Ensure audit reports are clear, concise, and actionable.
- Training and Staff Development: Lead the recruitment, development, and motivation of audit team members. Oversee performance appraisals and ensure all staff have well-defined objectives and career development plans.
- Engagement Profitability: Oversee the financial management of audit assignments, ensuring projects are completed within agreed budgets and timelines while maintaining profitability targets for AAC Professional Services.
- Business Development: Contribute to the growth of the audit division by identifying new business opportunities and participating in proposal writing, presentations, and marketing efforts to prospective clients.
- Ethics and Independence: Uphold the firm’s ethical standards and maintain the integrity of the audit process by ensuring compliance with internal independence policies and avoiding conflicts of interest.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of audit regulations, anti-money laundering laws, and financial products to provide relevant advice to clients.
- Oversee the project management of multiple client engagements, ensuring efficient and timely completion.
- ACCA, ICAN qualification or overseas equivalent.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of audit experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Experience managing audit teams and mentoring staff.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian GAAP, IFRS, and International Auditing Standards.
- Experience in performing substantive audits, consolidations, and group audits.
- Project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple engagements successfully.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships at senior levels.
- Working knowledge of financial products, compliance, anti-money laundering, and risk management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
- Ability to identify business opportunities and contribute to the firm’s growth.
