Reports To: Head Product Growth, Consumer Business

Role Summary

This isn’t your typical product manager role. We're looking for a builder who understands both the front-end customer needs and the back-office operational complexity of remittance. You’ll be responsible for designing reliable, regulatory-compliant cross-border transfer experiences—but you’ll also deeply understand how money moves, how settlements are cleared, how exceptions are handled, and how treasury teams operate.

This is the ideal role for someone with a remittance, treasury, or financial operations background who has leaped product—and who thrives at the intersection of product design, payments infrastructure, and financial control.

What You’ll Own

Product Strategy & Design

  • Define and evolve the roadmap for remittance features tailored to intra-Africa and Africa-to-diaspora corridors.
  • Translate customer problems into scalable product solutions with high availability, low latency, and transparency.
  • Own key flows like transaction status visibility, refund/reversal mechanisms, and transaction retry logic.

Operations & Treasury

  • Integration Partner with treasury and finance teams to design seamless liquidity management and FX conversion flows.
  • Understand and help define how remittance settlement works, including pre-funding, T+1/T+2 cycles, and exception management.
  • Build tools and workflows that support reconciliation, dispute resolution, and regulatory reporting.

Compliance & Risk

  • Design with compliance in mind—KYC, AML, transaction monitoring, SAR filing, etc.—while preserving UX excellence.
  • Interface with internal risk teams to monitor velocity rules, fraud signals, chargeback trends, and transaction thresholds.
  • Embed regulatory flexibility to support corridor-by-corridor compliance (e.g. CBN in Nigeria, FCA in the UK, etc.).
Partnerships & Pay-out Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with banking partners, mobile money operators, and pay-out aggregators across key corridors.
  • Work with engineering to integrate APIs for cash pickup, mobile wallet disbursement, or direct-to-bank transfers.
  • Co-design SLAs, fallback protocols, and alerting mechanisms to guarantee high delivery success rates.
Requirements for the Position
  • 5+ years’ experience building and/or operating remittance, cross-border payments, or treasury platforms.
  • Deep understanding of fund flow, settlement, reconciliation, and FX mechanics in financial services.
  • Prior experience working with treasury ops, compliance teams, and banking partners.
  • Ability to write detailed product specs and process flows—especially around failure handling, retries, refunds, or reversals.
  • Excellent communicator who can bridge the gap between engineering, finance, risk, and customer-facing teams.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing remittances in key African and diaspora corridors.

Bonus If You Have

  • Experience integrating with payment rails like SWIFT, SEPA, NIBSS, mobile money APIs, or local clearing houses.
  • Exposure to AML/KYC vendors, transaction monitoring tools, and fraud systems
  • Been part of a zero-to-one product launch in fintech or payments.
