Job Title: Regulatory & Government Relations Officer

Role Description

  • This is a full-time on-site role as a Regulatory & Government Relations Officer in Abuja for Quality Foods Africa Group.
  • The Officer will be responsible for handling day-to-day regulatory and government relations tasks to ensure compliance and smooth operations within the company.
  • The Regulatory & Government Relations Officer is responsible for ensuring that all Abuja outlets operate in full compliance with applicable food safety, health, and environmental regulations.
  • This includes liaising and maintaining positive relations with government bodies, attending all regulatory inspections, and ensuring the proper documentation and timely renewals of licenses.
  • The role also supports internal training and compliance awareness across teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections of outlets to ensure adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health standards.
  • Attend all regulatory inspections across outlets to ensure proper representation and prompt resolution of any compliance issues.
  • Identify non-compliance issues and work with the relevant teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Interface with relevant government and regulatory agencies (e.g., NAFDAC, FCT Environmental Department, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Ministry of Health etc.).
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, compliance activities, and regulatory communications.
  • Monitor and stay current on regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to business practices.
  • Coordinate the application, processing, and renewal of necessary licenses, permits, and certifications.
  • Organize and facilitate training sessions for staff on regulatory requirements, food and workplace safety, hygiene practices etc.
  • Support audits and inspections, providing guidance and corrective action plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with HES (Health, Environment, and Safety) and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a regulatory, administrative, compliance, HSE, or government relations role, preferably within the QSR, FMCG, or hospitality sectors.
  • Understanding of Nigerian food safety and health regulations, particularly within the FCT.
  • Understanding of Abuja municipal and federal regulatory structures (especially AMAC).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in dealing with regulatory authorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
