Job Purpose
- The job holder will lead and manage the Group’s overall HR strategy, policies, and practices to support business growth, operational excellence, and employee engagement across all subsidiaries.
- This role serves as a strategic business partner to the executive management team, driving workforce planning, talent management, organizational development, and culture transformation to align with the dynamic demands of the oil and gas industry.
- Provide strategic leadership for all HR functions across the Group.
- Oversee the development and implementation of HR policies in line with the strategic goals and objectives of Matrix Energy Group.
- Coordinate the HRBPs and liaise with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) heads on people related issues.
- Collaborate with other members of the management on compliance with company policies and procedures across all business units.
- Plans annual HR initiatives in line with the business goals & strategies.
- Ensures that there is a strategic link between performance management, training, and other human resource functions to ensure effective implementation of performance management recommendations.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures on all HR processes
- Monitor the creation, deployment and adoption of relevant HR process software and recommend areas for automation and process improvement.
- Ensure a highly motivated workforce with adequate opportunities for career growth and development
- Support talent acquisition strategies in the acceleration of recruitment processes and attraction of top talent for management and executive positions.
- Develop culture integration programs to aid employee retention and drive work culture sustainability across the Group.
- Participate in employee disciplinary committees and other investigative committees set-up by the internal audit unit.
- Oversee contracts with third-party service providers to ensure overall satisfaction.
- Oversee participation in remuneration benchmark exercises and recommend to the management the best pay philosophy to retain and attract the best talent.
- Ensure that all documentation relating to employment is up to date and consistent with corporate and legislative best practice, including job offers, contracts of employment, performance reviews and background checks.
- Ensures the group operates a robust talent management program to continue to attract, recruit, develop, integrate, and retain the best talent and advance the competitive positioning of the organization in a rapidly changing and dynamic market.
- Lead the development and presentation of periodic comprehensive HR reports and dashboards for executive decision-making, on key HR metrics, including headcount trends, turnover, recruitment status, disciplinary cases, training impact, compensation analysis, and workforce planning.
- Generate HR insights and recommendations based on data analysis to inform strategic business decisions across subsidiaries.
- Performs other responsibilities assigned by the Group Head of Support Services or the CEO.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, business administration, industrial relations, psychology, or a related field is required.
- Master’s degree in human resources or a related field is required.
- Experience in the downstream oil and gas industry is required.
- Professional certification/membership, such as ACIPM, SPHRi or SHRM-SCP, is required.
- Minimum of 10 – 12 years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Exposure to HR practice in a large-sized organization is preferred.
- Ability to drive positive business outcomes through sound HR strategies.
- Project management and strong stakeholder management skills.
- Good understanding of employee/industrial relations and an appreciation of the dynamics of the labour and employment laws and legislations in Nigeria.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Strong leadership, supervisory, coaching, mentoring and people management skills.
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, conflict resolution and relationship management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, and cultural sensitivity to the communication based on geographic location and other related factors.
- Ability to deal with individuals in a multi-cultural environment, with varying levels of literacy.
- Excellent communication, presentation and business writing skills.
