About the Role:

As Legal Counsel at Remedial Health, you will ensure that the company operates within the legal frameworks of Nigeria, offering strategic counsel while actively managing operational legal matters. This role demands someone who is both professionally astute and able to engage with top executives, draft sound legal documentation, and interact directly with police, regulators, and other authorities pan Nigeria. You’ll play a central role in maintaining legal compliance across all partnerships, staff processes, and enforcement actions—particularly when dealing with employee exits and financial recoveries.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Structure and review legal frameworks for all business and vendor partnerships.
  • Work with the team covering asset and debt recovery efforts in collaboration with the Finance team, especially from former employees and sales team members.
  • Draft and enforce separation agreements and repayment plans for staff with financial obligations to the company.
  • Oversee employee offboarding with a legal lens, ensuring contract breaches are addressed, financial dues are recovered, and authorities are appropriately engaged where needed.
  • Liaise directly with law enforcement and regulatory agencies to resolve employment, asset, or contractual disputes.
  • Review, draft, and update company contracts, agreements, and policies in line with current laws and regulations.
  • Represent and defend Remedial Health and its staff in legal proceedings, including regulatory and civil rights cases.
  • Support HR in all legal matters concerning recruitment, employment documentation, disciplinary actions, and exits.
  • Verify all guarantors for new hires and ensure enforceability of those agreements.
  • Prepare legal notices, formal letters, and follow-up documentation to ensure recovery of outstanding dues and compliance with obligations.
  • Monitor agreed repayment schedules and ensure full follow-through until closure.
  • Serve as the company’s lead liaison with authorities in all Nigerian states, using your established network and familiarity with local systems to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

  • Be tactful, assertive, and thorough in offboarding and asset recovery processes.
  • Be capable of managing high-pressure, time-sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of Nigerian labor laws, corporate law, and enforcement regulations.
  • Have excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and investigative skills.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively with executives, staff, external partners, and enforcement bodies.
  • Be highly organized, with a system for tracking outstanding matters and ensuring resolution.


Person Specification:

  • LL.B and BL from a recognized institution; additional legal or business qualifications are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-call experience with a mix of law firm and in-house roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with law enforcement, labor-related matters, and regulatory bodies pan-Nigeria.
  • Strong background in contract enforcement, employee relations, and post-employment legal follow-up.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
  • Proven track record of drafting enforceable legal documents and following through on debt recovery and compliance actions.
