Job Role

• We are looking for a highly skilled Database Engineer & Administrator to join our team. This role combines database engineering with database administration, ensuring our data infrastructure is reliable, optimized, and scalable.
• You will be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing relational databases, architecting data warehouses, and ensuring data security and performance.
  
  

Key Responsibilities

• Database Design & Architecture: Design and maintain scalable relational databases and data warehouses to support business needs.
• Database Administration: Manage database systems, ensuring availability, security, and performance tuning.
• Optimization & Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance, including query tuning and indexing strategies.
• Backup & Recovery: Implement robust backup, disaster recovery, and failover strategies.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry standards.
• Data Management: Oversee data migrations, ETL processes, and maintain data consistency across environments.
• Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts and automation for database maintenance, monitoring, and deployment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with engineering teams to support application database needs and troubleshoot performance issues.
  
  

Requirements

• Candidates should possess a First Degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum of five (5) years in database engineering and administration.
• Expertise in relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.).
• Strong knowledge of database indexing, replication, partitioning, and sharding.
• Experience with database monitoring and optimization tools.
• Proficiency in SQL scripting, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Hands-on experience with data warehousing and ETL pipelines.
• Understanding of database security best practices.
• Experience with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis) is a bonus.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
