Job Summary:
We are looking for a compassionate and attentive Nursing Assistant to support our nursing and clinical team in delivering quality care to patients. The ideal candidate will assist with basic patient care tasks, ensure comfort and hygiene, and provide essential support to nurses and doctors in a fast-paced hospital environment. This role requires empathy, physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to medical and professional standards in line with Nigerian healthcare regulations and hospital protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration) and report abnormalities to the nurse on duty.
- Help reposition and transfer patients safely, especially bedridden ones.
- Provide support during procedures and examinations.
- Ensure patients’ rooms and wards are clean, tidy, and properly equipped.
- Change bed linens, sanitize equipment, and dispose of waste materials properly.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided to patients.
- Escort patients to diagnostic units (lab, radiology, etc.) as required.
- Collect urine, stool, or sputum samples for lab tests under supervision.
- Administer oral medications or assist as directed by the supervising nurse (if trained and certified).
- Offer emotional support to patients and families, especially during stressful periods.
- Communicate respectfully and clearly with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Always uphold patient confidentiality and dignity.
Required Qualifications:
- Certificate in Nursing from a recognized institution or healthcare facility.
- Minimum of SSCE/WAEC with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, and other relevant subjects.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience in a hospital or clinical setting (preferred).
- Basic knowledge of patient care, hygiene, and infection prevention.
- Compassionate, patient, and service oriented.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks.
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
- High sense of responsibility, discipline, and hygiene.
Salary: Salary is competitive based on industry standard and experience
