We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager, Commercial to lead our commercial operations and drive sustainable business growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for revenue generation, client relationship management, funds mobilization, and strategic partnerships, in alignment with the companys liquidity objectives and long-term financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
- Design and implement commercial and funds mobilization strategies to grow retail, corporate, and institutional borrowings.
- Develop and align commercial initiatives with the companys strategic business goals.
- Oversee the budgeting and forecasting process for all commercial activities.
- Identify and secure high-value investors including HNIs, SMEs, NGOs, corporates, and government bodies.
- Drive customer acquisition, retention, and expansion strategies to meet funding goals.
- Recommend product pricing and features to maintain competitive edge in the market.
- Develop and manage strategic business partnerships to expand outreach and funding base.
- Oversee the management of key client accounts and ensure high service standards.
- Foster relationships with regulators, financial stakeholders, and institutional clients.
- Ensure the delivery of agreed service levels, compliance, and satisfaction across the client base.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the commercial team to ensure performance targets are met.
- Cultivate a results-driven, ethical, and collaborative team culture.
- Drive execution of the companys funds mobilization strategy with measurable financial targets.
- Present regular financial and performance reports to the Board and senior leadership.
- Quarterly funds mobilization target of 1,000,000,000 (1 Billion)
- Year-on-year growth in investment and revenue
- Customer acquisition and retention rates
- New market penetration and segment expansion
- ROI on mobilized funds
- Compliance with all commercial and regulatory standards
- Performance of commercial staff against set KPIs
Education:
- A Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
- Additional certifications such as ICAN, CFA, or CIBN are an added advantage.
- Minimum of 12 years experience in commercial or investment banking.
- At least 8 years in senior executive roles involving funds mobilization, commercial leadership, and client relationship management.
- Proven success in meeting fundraising or investment targets in the financial services industry.
- Strategic thinking and leadership
- Excellent client relationship management and negotiation skills
- In-depth understanding of investment, liquidity, and financial products
- Familiarity with financial services regulations and compliance
- Strong communication and team-building skills
- Ability to lead transformation and scale operations
