About My Health Integral
MHI is a pioneering digital health startup dedicated to transforming healthcare access and delivery across Africa, starting with Nigeria. We’re building an intelligent, user-centric platform that connects patients, healthcare providers, and partners through seamless web and mobile experiences, powered by AI and supported by scalable cloud infrastructure.
We’re at the early stages of our journey, and we’re assembling a mission-driven founding team to help us build from the ground up. If you’re excited by the challenge of solving big problems that impact real lives, we’d love to meet you.

About the Role
As an AI Engineer Intern, you will help develop and deploy machine learning models that enhance the functionality of our platform. This will involve working with real-world healthcare data to train models, analyze results, and implement AI features that make healthcare smarter and more accessible.
The internship is a hands-on opportunity where you will work directly with the founders and have a chance to experiment with different AI models and techniques. You will also gain practical experience in deploying AI solutions in a startup environment, where innovation and problem-solving are key.

Key Responsibilities

Deploy and integrate models into production using tools like Flask, FastAPI, or equivalent frameworks.
Preprocess and clean structured and unstructured healthcare data for training and inference.
Work with backend engineers to expose ML functionality via APIs.
Evaluate and optimize model performance for accuracy, speed, and reliability.
Stay current with industry trends and bring forward AI innovations relevant to healthcare.
Contribute to data governance and ethical AI use in medical contexts.

Requirements
Experience building and training machine learning models using Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
Ability to deploy models via REST APIs or microservices.
Understanding of real-world AI/ML integration challenges (scaling, latency, data privacy).
Experience working with healthcare-related or sensitive data.
Familiarity with model evaluation techniques and performance metrics.
Comfort working in a startup environment with evolving requirements.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
