Background and context


Tiko inspires futures where girls and young women take charge of their sexual and reproductive choices, with the freedom to shape their lives. Founded in 2014, Tiko is an African nonprofit organisation that enhances the potential and fosters the resilience of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in Sub-Saharan Africa by addressing the critical “Triple Threat”: early pregnancy, HIV, and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Tiko has developed its own unique girl-centric technology platform to unite an ecosystem of existing, established partners to provide an environment enabling girls to choose when, where and how they meet their health and wellbeing needs. Leveraging this technology-enabled, community-driven approach, Tiko collaborates with local and national health systems to drive sustainable, transformative change. Tiko operates in seven countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, Zambia and Nigeria.


Tiko is looking for an individual consultant to support in risk management of our operations in Abuja in the following 6 months with an expected level of effort of up to 10 working days in a month. The individual is expected to carry out the following tasks.


Scope of work

  1. Familiarise with Tiko way of operating and the current objectives including arrangements in place to achieve program objectives.
  2. Familiarise with our platform risk management processes including fraud prevention, detection and response controls to support meeting program objectives. This includes the risk dashboard and the data points already available to support platform risk management.
  3. Active risk management in the ecosystem including conducting the following;
  4. Data verification - Collect data in the primary registers against platform for analysis and identify any gaps in the facilities record keeping against platform validations.
  5. Random audits and spot checks - conduct monitoring platform activities in areas/facilities where significant activity has been noted or is anticipated.
  6. Sample calls will be verified for beneficiaries consenting to be called to verify service uptake and actors' compliance with the user journey.
  7. Carry out actor audits and investigations as may be necessary or as assigned.
  8. Communicate audit/investigation findings to both internal stakeholders with a view to improving controls and compliance.
  9. Implement appropriate mechanisms to follow-up of the agreed recommendations by both internal and external stakeholders.


Consultant Qualifications

  • The individual must ideally meet the criteria below.
  • 5+ years experience in a similar area (health data verification or monitoring and evaluation)
  • An understanding of public health data quality management processes (formal qualifications if any are desirable)
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, including when reporting your findings.
  • You can collaborate with multi-functional teams and can offer practical solutions where necessary.
