CCTV Control Room Operator
Job Objectives
- A CCTV Control Room operator is responsible for monitoring surveillance systems, detecting security incidents.
- Coordinate with safety protocols to protect people, property and operations.
Department: Security
Office: GDNL Terminal ‘E’ Building Apapa Port Complex, Apapa Wharf, Lagos-Nigeria.
Reports to: Head of Security
Job Responsibilities
- Monitor CCTV systems to ensure continuous surveillance of terminal operations.
- Detect and report security, safety, or operational incidents in real time.
- Coordinate appropriate responses with relevant teams and emergency services.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of incidents and activities.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and company security procedures.
- Conduct routine technical checks on surveillance and control room equipment.
- Escalate critical issues promptly to supervisors and management.
- Support investigations by retrieving and reviewing recorded footage.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and security data.
- Ensure proper handover of duties during shift changes.
- Technical Capabilities: Solid understanding of CCTV infrastructure, and basic IT/networking troubleshooting. Ability to operate multi-screen consoles and control room equipment.
- Operational Skills: High attention to detail, exceptional situational awareness, and strong visual stamina required for prolonged monitoring shifts.
- Communication & Crisis Management: Excellent communication skills, including clear radio communication etiquette. Ability to remain calm, focused, and authoritative under pressure during emergency situations.
- Flexibility: Strong teamwork mindset and full availability to work a rotating 24/7 shift pattern (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Minimum of a Diploma in security management, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Formal certifications or completed courses in CCTV Operations, Surveillance Systems Management, or Control Room Protocol are highly preferred.
- 2–5 years of active experience in a dedicated security control room, control center, or surveillance-heavy role. Experience within maritime ports, logistics hubs, or industrial environments is a strong advantage.
