Quay Staff
Job Objectives
- Ensuring zero loss of cargo onboard and ashore.
- Responsible for supporting cargo handling operations on the quay through safe and efficient loading, unloading, and housekeeping activities.
- Ensure smooth vessel and terminal operations by assisting with cargo movement and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
Department: Operations
Office: GDNL Terminal ‘E’ Building Apapa Port Complex, Apapa Wharf, Lagos-Nigeria.
Reports to: Head of Operations
Job Responsibilities
- Perform hooking and dehooking of cargo onboard vessels and ashore.
- Clear cargo spillage on vessels and within quay areas to maintain safety.
- Support stacking area operations, including cargo positioning and organization.
- Assist during barge operations and related cargo handling activities.
- Ensure safe handling of cargo in line with operational procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of quay and work areas.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) guidelines.
- Report hazards, damages, or incidents promptly to supervisors.
- Assist equipment operators and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
- Support general quay operations as required.
- Physical Attributes: Must possess high physical fitness, stamina, and agility to handle outdoor manual labor and work under pressure.
- Key Demographics: Not more than 30 years old at the time of application.
- Behavioural Skills: Good communication skills, strong teamwork capability, and the ability to follow strict operational instructions closely.
- Safety Mindset: High safety awareness, alertness, and vigilance when working around heavy machinery and port infrastructure.
- Minimum SSCE
- 0 – 1 years’ working experience in same role
