Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled, hygienic, and reliable Cook / Caterer to manage meal preparation and catering services within a healthcare/medical facility.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals in line with hygiene and food safety standards, ensuring high-quality service for staff, patients, and visitors where applicable. Experience in institutional or healthcare catering is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements
- Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene, safety, and sanitation standards
- Plan daily meal schedules and ensure timely food preparation and serving
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and food preparation areas
- Monitor food stock levels and report shortages to management
- Properly store food items to prevent spoilage and contamination
- Assist in menu planning, especially for special dietary or patient meal needs
- Ensure proper portion control and food quality consistency
- Dispose of waste in line with hygiene and environmental standards
- Comply with healthcare facility food safety policies and regulations
- Support catering for staff meetings, events, and special functions when required
- Minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent
- Professional culinary training or catering certification is an added advantage
- Minimum of 4 years' experience as a cook or caterer (hospital, hotel, or institutional catering experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and kitchen best practices
- Ability to prepare both local and continental dishes
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet meal schedules
