Our client is a long-established and financially stable state-licensed microfinance Bank with over two decades of consistent growth. The bank has evolved through several regulatory milestones to become one of the most respected mid-tier players in Nigeria’s microfinance landscape.
The Bank enjoys deep customer loyalty, a solid governance culture, and a strong track record of operational prudence and sustainable growth. To consolidate its market leadership and drive the next phase of expansion and digital transformation, our client seeks to appoint a seasoned General Manager to lead business growth, innovation, and institutional strengthening.
Role Objective
The General Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the Bank’s growth strategy. The ideal candidate will combine strategic foresight with strong execution capability, leading business development, balance-sheet growth, and digital-finance innovation to strengthen the bank’s performance and market relevance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement business strategies that drive growth in deposits, credit portfolio, and customer base.
Champion Fintech-enabled lending initiatives and payroll-based credit models for SME and salaried clients.
Identify and execute new business opportunities, partnerships, and alliances that enhance competitiveness and profitability.
Oversee product innovation, marketing, and customer-engagement strategies that sustain goodwill and institutional visibility.
Provide strong leadership across key functions; Credit, Operations, Finance, Risk, HR, and Marketing ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
Strengthen governance, risk management, and internal-control frameworks in line with CBN and NDIC standards.
Drive operational excellence through digital transformation, process efficiency, and staff productivity.
Build, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team to deliver superior business results.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Banking & Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline; Master’s or MBA preferred.
Professional membership of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria is required.
12–18 years of progressive experience in financial services, with at least 5 years in senior leadership within microfinance, commercial, corporate, or merchant banking.
Proven track record in business development, market expansion, and balance-
sheet growth.
Demonstrated experience in Fintech-driven lending, digital product innovation, or
partnership-led distribution.
Strong knowledge of microfinance operations, credit management, and regulatory
frameworks.
