Job Summary
Our client, a rapidly expanding healthcare organization with operations across multiple locations in Nigeria, is seeking an accomplished and visionary Chief Operating Officer (COO) to provide executive leadership for all non-clinical operations and drive operational excellence across the Group.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of multiple healthcare facilities, ensuring operational efficiency, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, resource optimization, staff performance, and sustainable business growth. The COO will work closely with the Executive Director to develop and implement strategic initiatives that improve service delivery, operational performance, and organizational profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with the organization's vision, mission, and long-term business objectives.
- Provide executive leadership across all non-clinical departments and multiple healthcare facilities.
- Translate corporate strategy into measurable operational goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support the Executive Director in driving organizational transformation and sustainable growth.
- Lead and oversee the daily operations of all healthcare facilities within the Group.
- Ensure consistency in operational standards across multiple locations.
- Develop systems that enable effective remote management of multiple facilities from a central location.
- Optimize workflows, improve productivity, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish operational policies, procedures, and standard operating protocols.
- Coordinate operations across all branches and satellite facilities.
- Monitor operational performance across locations and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure uniform service delivery, operational consistency, and accountability across all sites.
- Conduct regular operational reviews and site performance assessments.
- Develop and implement comprehensive quality assurance programmes.
- Oversee quality control initiatives to improve patient and customer experience.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and organizational policies.
- Lead staff induction, onboarding, orientation, certification, and continuous professional development programmes.
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor service excellence metrics.
- Oversee all non-clinical administrative functions across the organization.
- Ensure efficient management of personnel, facilities, equipment, and operational assets.
- Develop maintenance and asset management strategies to maximize operational efficiency.
- Supervise procurement, logistics, inventory, and facility management operations.
- Provide leadership to administrative and operational teams.
- Drive workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
- Promote a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Foster employee engagement, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure operational cost efficiency and budget adherence.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising service quality.
- Monitor operational budgets and resource utilization.
- Support revenue growth through operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
- Lead operational planning for new facility openings and corporate expansion initiatives.
- Develop scalable operational models to support organizational growth.
- Conduct operational due diligence for expansion projects.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and strategic business initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent the organization during operational meetings, regulatory engagements, and strategic partnerships.
- Collaborate effectively with clinical leadership to ensure integrated healthcare delivery.
- Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Hospital Administration, Management, or a related discipline.
- Master's Degree (MBA, MHA, MPH, or related field) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 15 years' progressive management experience.
- At least 8 years' experience in a senior executive or Group Operations leadership role.
- Demonstrable experience managing operations across multiple healthcare facilities.
- Professional certifications in Healthcare Management, Operations Management, or Project Management will be an added advantage.
