About The Role
Our client, a fast-growing pharmaceutical and healthcare organization located in Ajah, Lagos, is seeking to engage a highly analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive Accountant to join its Finance team.
The ideal candidate will possess strong financial reporting and accounting experience, demonstrate excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, and have a solid understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and financial reporting standards. The successful candidate will support the organization's financial operations by ensuring accurate financial records, statutory compliance, effective internal controls, and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure all accounting records are accurate and up to date.
- Prepare journals, reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, supplier statements, and customer accounts.
- Prepare monthly trial balances and supporting schedules.
- Process supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and staff reimbursements.
- Monitor accounts receivable and ensure timely collections.
- Reconcile customer and vendor accounts.
- Prepare aging analysis reports for debtors and creditors.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor departmental expenditures against approved budgets.
- Support management with financial analysis for strategic decision-making.
- Prepare variance analysis reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with current Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and process PAYE, Withholding Tax (WHT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Company Income Tax (CIT), and other statutory obligations.
- Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities during tax audits and statutory reviews.
- Ensure timely filing and remittance of all statutory deductions.
- Monitor daily cash flow and liquidity positions.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and working capital reports.
- Manage banking relationships and payment processing.
- Support treasury management activities.
- Maintain strong internal control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.
- Support both internal and external audit exercises.
- Assist in identifying financial risks and recommending mitigation measures.
- Monitor inventory valuation and stock reconciliations.
- Support inventory counts and warehouse audits.
- Ensure accurate product costing and inventory accounting.
- Investigate inventory variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate financial records using accounting software.
- Generate financial reports from ERP/accounting systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and system enhancements.
- Develop financial models using Microsoft Excel.
- Prepare dashboards, pivot tables, charts, and financial reports.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, IF statements, and Pivot Tables, for financial analysis and reporting.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting documentation.
- Perform other finance and accounting duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- ACA/ICAN (Professional Level completed or actively pursuing final qualification) is required.
- ACCA qualification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, or FMCG sector.

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced Level)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Accounting Software (such as Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, Tally, or similar ERP systems)
- Financial reporting and analysis tools
