Role Overview
- The IT Security Senior Analyst 2 is an advanced, high-level specialist who acts as a technical lead within the security team. He/She leads complex incident response, threat hunting, vulnerability management, and policy compliance.
- Beyond day-to-day operations, this role focuses on designing security architecture, defining security policies, and mentoring junior and mid-level analysts.
Key Responsibilities
- Security Architecture & Design: Evaluate, design, and implement enterprise-grade security solutions. Review existing infrastructure to identify and address structural security gaps.
- Incident Response: Lead investigations into complex security alerts and malware by analyzing log data from SIEM, EDR, and firewall systems.
- Threat Hunting & Detection: Proactively search for hidden threats and indicators of compromise (IOCs) across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Vulnerability & Risk Management: Execute continuous vulnerability scans, identify security gaps, and oversee remediation and patching efforts.
- Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members. Advise executive leadership on emerging threat landscapes.
- Compliance & Auditing: Conduct regular security audits and reviews to ensure systems comply with internal security policies and regulatory frameworks.
- Incident Lifecycle Management: Lead containment, eradication, and recovery efforts during active security breaches or high-severity incidents.
- Access Control Hardening: Implement and maintain robust security templates, ensuring strong ciphers, secure key exchange algorithms, and strict access control lists (ACLs) are applied to critical infrastructure.
- Architecture Collaboration: Work alongside the network and system infrastructure team to ensure networking and virtualization platforms align with secure design principles.
- Mentorship: Guide, train, and mentor junior security analysts, helping them develop their technical skills and analytical mindsets.
- Post-Incident Reviews: Lead "lessons learned" sessions after major incidents to identify gaps in visibility or controls and drive remedial security projects.
- Design, write, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- 5–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a proven track record of handling complex architectures and major security incidents.
- Experience with enterprise networking (LAN/WAN, routers, firewalls), virtualization, and backup systems.
- Deep expertise in cloud security, advanced digital forensics, threat modeling methodologies, and zero-trust framework implementation.
- Certifications (Highly Desirable): CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or CEH Master.
