ASU FIDM, the fashion school in the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University, is dedicated to making fashion education accessible to all aspiring fashion students. We offer programs in fashion design, fashion merchandising, apparel product development, apparel technical design, and costume design and technology. Position Description And Essential Functions
This position includes essential functions of teaching and mentoring students in fashion merchandising, developing new courses based on individual strengths and service according to departmental needs. The successful candidate is expected to pursue an active research agenda in fashion merchandising. Areas of emphasis may include: Omnichannel merchandising, digital commerce, retail and consumer analytics, technology applications in fashion merchandising, or visual merchandising.
The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching with the ability to develop and instruct a variety of in-person and online course offerings. The successful candidate will teach and mentor undergraduate students based on department needs including developing new courses related to their area of expertise. Additional responsibilities include service to ASU FIDM, Herberger Institute of Design and the Arts, and ASU.

- PhD or appropriate terminal degree with coursework in fashion or a related field; ABD considered.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated proficiency in fashion merchandising in two or more of the following areas: Omnichannel merchandising, digital commerce, retail and consumer analytics, technology applications in fashion merchandising, or visual merchandising.
- Evidence of successful teaching and mentorship in fashion merchandising for undergraduate beginning, intermediate and/or advanced courses.
- Demonstrated potential to achieve national and international recognition in scholarly research and/or creative work.
- Professional fashion industry experience with evidence of ongoing/sustained activity.
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with peers, colleagues, and professionals in academic settings, the fashion industry and/or at the community level.
- Familiarity with new directions in fashion industry trends.
