Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Chartered Accountant to oversee financial operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide strategic financial insights to support business growth. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting expertise, excellent analytical skills, and experience managing financial reporting, budgeting, taxation, and audit processes.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity and supporting management in making informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Oversee general ledger activities, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide management with actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budget performance and investigate variances.
  • Support strategic planning through financial modeling and analysis.
  • Provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure timely preparation and filing of all statutory tax returns, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, and other regulatory obligations.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, external auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and ensure organizational compliance.
  • Support tax planning initiatives and optimize tax efficiency.

Audit & Internal Controls

  • Coordinate internal and external audit activities.
  • Strengthen financial controls and ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Implement best practices for financial governance and accountability.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Supervise and mentor accounting and finance team members.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to support operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Present financial reports and recommendations to senior management.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the finance function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Must possess a professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, taxation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing audits, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, financial services, consulting, or a large corporate environment.
  • Experience leading finance teams and managing multiple stakeholders.
  • MBA or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is an added advantage.
