Salary: ₦500,000 – ₦700,000 Monthly (Negotiable based on experience)

About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Hematologist (Oncology) to join a leading oncology healthcare provider in Lekki, Lagos. The successful candidate will specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of patients with benign and malignant hematological disorders, including blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary oncology team to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care while contributing to clinical excellence, research, and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Diagnose and manage patients with hematological disorders and blood cancers.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care.
  • Interpret laboratory investigations, bone marrow biopsies, blood smears, and molecular diagnostic results.
  • Monitor treatment response and adjust management plans accordingly.
  • Manage hematological emergencies and treatment-related complications.
  • Provide transfusion support and oversee blood product utilization.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.


Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings.
  • Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Coordinate referrals and continuity of care for patients requiring specialized services.


Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.
  • Adhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality assurance guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.


Patient Education & Support

  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up care.
  • Provide compassionate counseling and support throughout the treatment journey.
  • Promote preventive healthcare and early detection initiatives where applicable.


Research & Professional Development

  • Participate in clinical research and oncology-related educational activities.
  • Stay current with advancements in hematology and oncology practice.
  • Mentor junior doctors and healthcare professionals where required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Fellowship in Hematology from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (NPMCN) or West African College of Physicians (WACP).
  • Current practicing license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Additional oncology-related certifications will be an added advantage.


Experience

  • Minimum of 3–5 years' post-fellowship experience as a Hematologist.
  • Proven experience managing patients with hematological malignancies in an oncology or tertiary healthcare setting.
  • Experience administering and monitoring chemotherapy protocols is highly desirable.
