We're looking for an experienced commercial leader to build and scale the partnerships that will drive marketplace adoption and BNPL origination across Nigeria.
The Role
The General Manager, Marketplace & Brand Partnerships will lead VeendHQ's commercial partnerships strategy, focusing on acquiring high-volume merchant checkout partners and developing strategic FMCG brand partnerships.
This role is responsible for creating the commercial engine that fuels BNPL demand through merchant acquisition, marketplace growth, and brand-funded customer programs.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll secure the first strategic partnerships before building and leading a high-performing commercial team.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute VeendHQ's marketplace partnership strategy.
- Acquire high-volume merchant partners across airlines, travel, transportation, retail, and other strategic sectors.
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with FMCG brands and manufacturers for brand-funded campaigns and customer rewards.
- Lead commercial negotiations from prospecting through contract execution.
- Deliver sustainable merchant checkout volume that supports BNPL origination.
- Design, recruit, and lead the Marketplace & Brand Partnerships team.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Lending teams to ensure successful partner launches.
- Monitor partnership performance and optimize commercial outcomes.
- Build scalable commercial processes, reporting, and forecasting.
Success Metrics
Within your first year, you will be expected to:
- Activate your existing strategic commercial network.
- Launch multiple merchant checkout partnerships.
- Secure leading FMCG brand collaborations.
- Deliver a commercial run-rate targeting ₦16 Billion annual marketplace GMV.
- Build and lead a high-performing commercial organization.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in one or more of the following:
- FMCG Trade Marketing
- Key Account Management
- Merchant Acquiring
- Retail Partnerships
- Commercial Business Development
- Minimum of 3 years in a Director-level or senior commercial leadership role.
- Proven experience closing strategic commercial partnerships worth ₦100M+ GMV.
- Experience leading commercial teams within Nigeria.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management, and partnership development skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build commercial strategy and execute at scale.
Preferred Qualities
Ideal candidates will already possess:
- Strong relationships within airlines, travel, transportation, retail, or payment ecosystems.
- Existing senior contacts within leading FMCG or manufacturing companies.
- Experience working within fintech, payments, marketplaces, or consumer technology businesses.
- Strong understanding of marketplace economics, merchant acquisition, and commercial growth.

Compensation
Salary Range: ₦737,409.32 to ₦1,246,221.75
- Performance bonuses (up to ₦40M)
- Quarterly variable pay
