Job Title: Oil & Gas Trader / Transaction Advisory Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Trader to provide commercial and operational advisory support across oil and gas transactions. The successful candidate will support transaction monitoring, counterparty sourcing, risk assessment and the execution of petroleum product supply, import and export transactions.

This role requires strong industry relationships, practical transaction experience and a deep understanding of the operational, pricing, regulatory and geopolitical factors that affect oil and gas trading.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on the structuring, execution and monitoring of oil and gas transactions, particularly AGO supply and related petroleum products.
  • Review transaction documents, supply arrangements, logistics plans, pricing structures and payment terms to identify operational and commercial risks.
  • Monitor transactions from product sourcing and loading through transportation, delivery, discharge and settlement.
  • Provide guidance on vessel operations, including vessel nomination, chartering, documentation, inspection, loading, discharge and demurrage risks.
  • Support the verification and assessment of buyers, suppliers, traders, vessel operators, storage facilities and other transaction counterparties.
  • Introduce credible buyers, suppliers, traders, vessel owners, terminal operators and other relevant industry participants.
  • Advise on import and export processes, regulatory requirements, customs procedures, permits and associated documentation.
  • Provide timely intelligence on petroleum product pricing, supply availability, market movements and regional trading conditions.
  • Identify geopolitical, regulatory, operational, foreign exchange, logistics and pricing risks that may affect transactions.
  • Support transaction negotiations and provide practical recommendations based on previous industry experience.
  • Prepare concise transaction monitoring reports and escalate material risks or irregularities.

Requirements

  • Significant professional experience in oil and gas trading, petroleum product supply or downstream operations.
  • Demonstrable experience in AGO supply transactions.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel operations, petroleum product logistics, terminal operations and marine documentation.
  • Experience with the import and export of petroleum products.
  • Strong understanding of petroleum product pricing, margins, market benchmarks and transaction economics.
  • Existing relationships with credible buyers, suppliers, traders, vessel operators and other oil and gas industry participants.
  • Ability to assess counterparty credibility and identify fraudulent, commercially weak or operationally impractical transactions.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, geopolitical, foreign exchange and supply chain risks affecting the oil and gas industry.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, reporting and stakeholder management skills.
  • High integrity, sound commercial judgment and the ability to handle sensitive transaction information confidentially.

Preferred Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned oil and gas professional who has personally participated in the sourcing, negotiation, financing, transportation and delivery of petroleum products. They should be commercially connected, operationally knowledgeable and able to anticipate transaction risks before they result in financial losses.

Engagement and Compensation

This may be structured as a full-time, part-time or consulting engagement, depending on the candidate’s experience and availability. Compensation will be competitive and may include transaction-based performance incentives.
