Key Responsibilities
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication works on heavy-duty trucks, trailers, and components using appropriate welding techniques.
- Carry out preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on truck bodies, chassis, and structural components.
- Repair cracks, fractures, and worn-out metal parts to restore structural strength and functionality.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication sketches for accurate execution of tasks.
- Inspect welded joints and structures to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machines in good working condition.
- Support major repairs, modifications, and overhauls of truck bodies and metal structures.
- Ensure proper alignment and fitting of fabricated components before welding.
- Maintain daily work logs and report material usage and completed tasks to supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with mechanical technicians and other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient repairs.
- Suggest and implement improved fabrication and welding techniques for continuous improvement.
- Trade Test Certificate or Diploma in Welding and Fabrication or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in welding, preferably within heavy-duty trucks.
- Strong knowledge of welding techniques and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety standards and welding best practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
