We’re seeking an Occupational Nurse to promote, protect, and maintain the health and well-being of employees within a manufacturing and operational environment by providing occupational health services, emergency medical response, first aid treatment, workplace health surveillance, and preventive healthcare support.
- Provide first aid treatment and immediate medical response for workplace injuries, chemical exposure incidents, inhalation risks, burns, cuts, and occupational illnesses.
- Assess employees’ health conditions and recommend appropriate medical intervention, referrals, or emergency escalation where necessary.
- Monitor health risks associated with agrochemical manufacturing, pesticide exposure, hazardous substances, and industrial operations.
- Manage the company clinic, ensuring adequate stocks of medical supplies, antidotes, first aid kits, PPE support items, and emergency response equipment.
- Conduct routine health screenings, pre-employment medical checks, periodic medical surveillance, and fitness-for-work assessments.
- Support health monitoring programs for employees exposed to chemicals, fumes, dust, and other occupational hazards.
- Maintain accurate medical records, treatment logs, incident reports, exposure records, and confidential employee health documentation.
- Participate in investigations involving workplace injuries, chemical spills, occupational illnesses, and health-related safety concerns.
- Coordinate employee wellness programs, vaccination drives, health awareness campaigns, and occupational health education sessions.
- Collaborate with the HSE team during emergency drills, fire drills, spill response exercises, and workplace safety programs.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations, factory safety standards, statutory medical reporting requirements, and environmental management practices.
- Liaise with external hospitals, clinics, laboratories, insurance providers, regulatory bodies, government agencies, and external auditors as required.
- Promote preventive healthcare practices, a proactive safety culture, and continuous HSE improvement initiatives.
- Track corrective actions arising from audits and inspections and ensure contractors and visitors comply with site safety requirements.
- Adhere strictly to company policies, HSE standards, medical ethics, confidentiality requirements, and safe working practices.
- Registered Nurse (RN) qualification with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) license.
- B.Sc. Nursing, Occupational Health Nursing certification, or a Public Health qualification is an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Occupational, Industrial, Clinic, or Factory Nurse within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in agrochemical, pharmaceutical, FMCG, food processing, or industrial manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Sound knowledge of occupational health regulations, chemical safety protocols, workplace hazard management, and employee wellness practices.
- Demonstrated experience handling workplace injuries, chemical exposure response, emergency care, and incident reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to maintain medical records and prepare reports.
- Relevant certifications such as BLS, First Aid/CPR, Occupational Health Nursing, HSE Levels 1–3, Factory Medical Response, Fire Safety and Emergency Response; international certifications including NEBOSH, IOSH, ACLS, and ISO 45001 awareness are advantageous.
