Human Resources Manager

Bethoy Solutions

Remote

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: ₦250,000 - ₦300,000/month

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive HR Manager to lead and manage all Human Resources functions while fostering a high-performing and engaging workplace culture. The successful candidate will oversee HR operations for an initial workforce of 62 employees, with systems designed to support future expansion.

This role requires a strategic HR professional who can manage a large number of staff, balance business objectives, ensuring people perform at their best in a structured, compliant, and supportive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Own the full recruitment cycle: sourcing, screening, shortlisting, and coordinating final interviews with leadership for all open roles.
  • Build and manage a talent pipeline to support rapid scaling towards 62 staff and beyond.
  • Design and run structured onboarding so every new hire understands how the business works from day one.
  • Set up and administer an ATS/HRIS platform to manage recruitment and employee records efficiently.

Performance Management

  • Design, calculate, and track KPIs across teams and departments.
  • Implement performance review cycles and results-based reward structures aligned with the company's deliverables-driven compensation philosophy.
  • Identify capability gaps and advise leadership on team structure and resourcing.

Policies, Systems & Compliance

  • Develop, document, and maintain HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbooks — and build the systems that ensure they are actually followed.
  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian labour law, tax (PAYE), pension, and other statutory requirements, staying current as regulations change.
  • Serve as the company's liaison with regulatory bodies, labour authorities, and external parties; prepare official HR documentation and correspondence (e.g., employment verification and acknowledgement letters).
  • Administer payroll accurately and on time, including statutory deductions and remittances.

Culture, Training & Employee Relations

  • Build and sustain a positive workplace culture that attracts and retains the right talent and supports work-life harmony.
  • Design training, retraining, and career development programmes to grow capability and reduce attrition.
  • Manage employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary processes fairly and confidentially.
  • Act as trusted advisor to the Founder, taking day-to-day people management off leadership's plate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' HR experience, with demonstrated experience managing large teams (breadth of people managed matters more to us than years served).
  • CIPM certification (required to practise HR in Nigeria); PHRi or other international HR certification is a strong advantage.
  • Proven HR generalist: hands-on across recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, payroll, and compliance.
  • Startup or high-growth experience — comfortable building processes from scratch rather than inheriting them.
  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian labour law and current tax and pension regulations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS/ATS platforms and modern business tools; familiarity with AI-enabled HR practices is a distinct advantage.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and discretion.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to draft formal documentation to an international standard.

What We Offer

  • Base salary of ₦250,000 – ₦300,000 monthly, with genuine openness to higher compensation tied to clearly defined deliverables and results.
  • Performance bonuses linked to agreed outcomes, timelines, and measurements.
  • A foundational leadership role: the opportunity to build the HR function and eventually a full HR department — as the company scales.
  • A results-focused environment with genuine autonomy: leadership cares about outcomes, not micromanagement.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means the company runs smoothly without leadership carrying the people function: HR policies, SOPs, and an HRIS/ATS platform are in place and actually followed; recruitment, onboarding, and payroll run accurately and compliantly; every team works to clear KPIs with regular performance reviews; and staff stay, grow, and perform within a positive workplace culture — with systems strong enough to scale as the company grows towards 300–400 staff.
