Legal & Documentation

  • Draft, review and support the negotiation of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), agreements and other organisational documents.
  • Review contracts, correspondence, proposals and documentation received from external organisations before escalation or execution.
  • Identify potential legal, employment or contractual risks within documents and escalate matters requiring specialist legal advice.
  • Work with external legal advisers where necessary.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trails for contractual and employee matters.

Performance Management

  • Design and manage effective performance management systems.
  • Establish performance review cycles, KPIs and employee evaluation processes.
  • Develop and manage Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) where required.
  • Coach managers on addressing underperformance and employee development.
  • Analyse performance trends and recommend interventions.

Employee Relations & Change Management

  • Manage employee relations, grievances, disciplinary matters and workplace conflicts professionally.
  • Support leadership during organisational change, restructuring or process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop employee engagement and retention initiatives.
  • Promote a professional, accountable and performance-driven workplace culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Law, Business Administration, Industrial Relations or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience, with significant responsibility across core HR functions.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Nigerian labour and employment law.
  • Demonstrated experience developing HR policies, SOPs and employee procedures.
  • Strong performance management and PIP experience.
  • Experience drafting and/or reviewing MOUs, agreements and formal organisational documentation.
  • Strong understanding of employee relations, disciplinary procedures and workplace compliance.
  • Experience supporting change management or organisational transformation.
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong judgement, confidentiality and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and advise senior management.

Preferred

  • Legal training, previous legal-sector experience or significant experience working with legal/compliance teams.
  • Professional HR certification such as CIPM, SHRM, HRCI or equivalent.
  • Previous experience within the oil & gas, energy, engineering or related sectors.
