The Civil Engineering Sales Engineer is responsible for driving the identification, development, and conversion of business opportunities relating to Raybond Technical Limited's civil engineering products, services, and technical solutions.
The role combines civil engineering knowledge with sales and business development expertise to understand client requirements, develop appropriate technical and commercial solutions, prepare quotations and proposals, generate new business, manage client relationships, and achieve assigned revenue and profitability targets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Business Development & Sales
- Identify and develop new business opportunities for Raybond's civil engineering-related products and services.
- Research target markets, industries, companies, projects, contractors, consultants, and potential clients.
- Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Conduct prospecting activities, client visits, presentations, meetings, follow-ups, and negotiations.
- Convert qualified leads, RFQs, tenders, and enquiries into purchase orders and contracts.
- Develop strategies for entering new markets and expanding Raybond's customer base.
- Understand clients' civil engineering requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, BOQs, RFQs, tender documents, and other technical documentation.
- Work with the Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and other relevant teams to develop technically compliant solutions.
- Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with client requirements.
- Assist in developing methodologies, material specifications, cost estimates, and technical submissions where required.
- Participate in technical clarification meetings and respond to client queries during the bidding and sales process.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, project managers, procurement personnel, and other decision-makers.
- Understand client procurement processes and decision-making structures.
- Act as a key point of contact between Raybond and assigned clients throughout the sales cycle.
- Attend client meetings, site visits, technical presentations, pre-bid meetings, and negotiations.
- Maintain professional communication and ensure timely responses to client enquiries.
- Gather client feedback and communicate relevant information internally to improve service delivery.
- Manage client expectations while ensuring compliance with Raybond's commercial and operational policies.
- Conduct site visits to understand project requirements and assess potential sales opportunities.
- Support the technical and operations teams during project mobilization and execution where required.
- Participate in pre-qualification exercises, site surveys, technical inspections, and project meetings.
- Identify variations, additional work scopes, and potential opportunities arising during project execution.
- Support the preparation and submission of variation proposals and additional works quotations.
- Maintain awareness of project progress to support client satisfaction and identify future business opportunities.
- Work closely with the Sales, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, Finance, and Management teams.
- Coordinate with technical personnel to ensure accuracy of technical proposals.
- Liaise with Procurement to obtain competitive pricing and confirm material availability.
- Coordinate with Operations to ensure that proposed solutions can be delivered within the required timelines.
- Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng) in Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' relevant experience in technical sales, civil engineering, construction, engineering solutions, business development, or a related field.
- Relevant sales/business development certification will be an added advantage.
- Valid professional registration with COREN is an advantage and may be required depending on the nature of the technical responsibilities assigned.
- Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) or other relevant professional bodies is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in B2B technical sales and business development.
- Experience working with construction companies, EPC contractors, Oil & Gas companies, consultants, government agencies, or industrial clients will be an advantage.
