Job Purpose
Cordros Registrars Limited is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager responsible for driving the growth of Cordros Registrars Limited’s retail investment business by acquiring new clients, expanding existing relationships, and increasing Assets Under Management (AUM) through effective mobilization of funds into mutual fund products and other investment solutions.
The role requires a commercially driven professional who can leverage traditional and digital sales channels to generate leads, convert prospects, deepen client engagement, and deliver tailored investment solutions aligned with clients’ financial objectives, risk profiles, and investment preferences.
Responsibilities
- Drive the achievement of assigned business development, revenue, and client acquisition targets through the promotion of Cordros Registrars' products and services.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to acquire new issuer mandates and expand the company's market presence. Identify, qualify, and convert prospective corporate clients into long-term registrar relationships.
- Build and maintain a healthy sales pipeline through networking, referrals, strategic partnerships, industry events, and targeted prospecting. Identify opportunities to cross-sell value-added registrar solutions including e-dividend services, e-mandate solutions, shareholder verification, AGM support, and digital shareholder engagement platforms.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with listed companies, private companies, shareholders, company secretaries, legal advisers, issuing houses, stockbrokers, trustees, and other capital market stakeholders.
- Conduct client needs assessments and recommend tailored registrar solutions that align with clients' operational and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and deliver compelling business proposals, presentations, and service demonstrations to prospective and existing clients.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, Compliance, and Client Services teams to ensure seamless onboarding and implementation of new mandates.
- Support clients throughout corporate actions including dividend payments, rights issues, bonus issues, public offers, share reconstruction exercises, mergers, acquisitions, and Annual General Meetings.
- Work closely with Marketing to execute campaigns that increase awareness of registrar services and enhance the company's brand visibility.
- Represent Cordros Registrars at industry conferences, shareholder meetings, investor forums, and other networking events.
- Monitor developments within the Nigerian capital market, regulatory landscape, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
- Develop strategic partnerships with company secretaries, legal firms, issuing houses, investment banks, and other ecosystem participants to generate new business.
- Ensure timely completion of all client onboarding documentation in line with KYC, AML, SEC, NGX, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of business development activities, client engagements, opportunities, and revenue pipelines within the CRM system.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and ethical business practices.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering business development activities, pipeline status, conversion rates, revenue performance, and client acquisition metrics.
- Track key performance indicators and provide insights on market trends, client needs, business opportunities, and competitive positioning.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Accounting, or a related discipline. Relevant professional certifications such as CIS, ACS, ICAN, ACCA, or other SEC-recognized certifications will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in securities registrars, capital market operations, issuer services, corporate relationship management, investor relations, financial services, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience in business development, client acquisition, relationship management, or sales within the capital market ecosystem.
- Good understanding of registrar operations, shareholder administration, corporate actions, dividend management, public offers, AGM processes, and electronic shareholder services.
- Existing relationships within the Nigerian capital market ecosystem will be an added advantage.
Knowledge
The incumbent must have proficiency knowledge in the following areas:
- Registrar operations and shareholder administration. Nigerian capital market structure and regulatory environment. Corporate actions administration. Public offers and securities issuance processes. Dividend administration and e-dividend solutions.
