Solar Design Engineer

Role Description The Solar Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Benin City. This role involves designing solar PV systems, preparing electrical layouts, and creating technical documentation for residential, commercial, or industrial projects. The Solar Design Engineer will analyze site conditions, perform load calculations, and select appropriate components to ensure system efficiency and safety. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with project managers, installation teams, and suppliers, as well as reviewing designs for compliance with relevant codes and standards. The role also includes supporting project planning, providing technical guidance, and optimizing designs for performance and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the solar industry and solar power applications, with experience in solar systems design and implementation.
• Proficiency in PV design, including system sizing, layout planning, and performance analysis.
• Strong electrical design skills, including familiarity with wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, and electrical safety standards.
• Ability to use relevant design and simulation software (e.g., PV*Sol, PVsyst, AutoCAD, or similar tools).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to interpret technical data and specifications.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams on-site in Benin City.
• Experience with local and international electrical and renewable energy codes and regulations is an advantage.
