About The Role
We are seeking a smart, customer-focused and target-driven Sales Representative to join a growing gadget retail business in Orchid, Lekki.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving in-store sales, attending to customers, promoting the company's range of mobile phones, laptops, tablets, accessories and other electronic gadgets, and ensuring an excellent customer experience.
The role requires strong product knowledge, persuasive selling ability and a genuine interest in technology. Similar Nigerian retail electronics roles typically emphasise product demonstrations, target achievement, customer service, POS transactions, merchandising and stock control.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and professionally attend to walk-in and prospective customers.
- Understand customer needs, preferences and budgets and recommend suitable products.
- Promote and sell mobile phones, laptops, tablets, accessories and other gadgets.
- Clearly explain product features, specifications, benefits and pricing.
- Demonstrate products and assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions.
- Achieve assigned daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
- Upsell and cross-sell accessories and complementary products.
- Handle customer questions, objections and complaints professionally.
- Process sales transactions accurately and issue appropriate receipts.
- Maintain accurate records of sales and customer transactions.
- Assist with stock checks, product arrangement and inventory monitoring.
- Ensure products and displays are clean, attractive and properly arranged.
- Monitor competitor pricing, products and market trends.
- Follow up with customers where necessary to encourage repeat purchases and referrals.
- Support promotional campaigns, product launches and in-store marketing activities.
- Maintain professional relationships with customers and contribute to customer retention.
- Prepare daily/weekly sales reports and provide relevant feedback to management.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, sales procedures and cash-handling controls.
- Perform other sales-related duties as assigned by the Managing Director.
- Minimum of SSCE/OND; HND or Bachelor's degree is an advantage.
- 1–3 years' experience in retail sales, preferably in gadgets, electronics, telecommunications or consumer technology.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Good knowledge of mobile phones, laptops, tablets, accessories and related technology products.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong persuasion, negotiation and closing skills.
- Good numerical and basic computer skills.
- Experience using POS systems is an advantage.
- Smart, confident, well-presented and professional.
- Honest, reliable and trustworthy, particularly when handling products, cash and customer information.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven retail environment.
- Candidates residing in Lekki, Orchid or nearby areas will be preferred, particularly as accommodation is not provided.
Performance will be assessed based on:
- Achievement of monthly sales targets.
- Revenue generated.
- Sales conversion rate.
- Number of new and repeat customers.
- Average transaction value.
- Upselling and cross-selling performance.
- Customer satisfaction and retention.
- Accuracy of sales and inventory records.
- Salary: ₦100,000 – ₦150,000 monthly, depending on experience and suitability.
