Purpose Statement
We are seeking a highly analytical and market-driven Capital Markets Analyst to support investment research, trade execution, portfolio monitoring, and market intelligence. The role will analyse investment opportunities, track portfolio performance, support capital market transactions, and provide timely insights that enable informed investment decisions, strong risk management, and improved portfolio returns.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct market, company, and securities research across equities, fixed income, FX, and other SEC approved asset classes to identify investment opportunities and market risks.

  • Analyse stocks and other investment instruments using financial statements, valuation models, market data, and macroeconomic indicators, and provide clear investment recommendations.

  • Execute and support capital market trades in line with approved investment strategies, limits, pricing parameters, and internal controls.

  • Monitor the Company’s proprietary investment portfolio, including daily positions, mark-to-market valuations, exposures, gains/losses, and performance against approved benchmarks.

  • Track portfolio and trading performance, including ROI, benchmark performance, settlement efficiency, yield, and other relevant investment KPIs.

  • Prepare valuation, pricing, and financial analyses for capital market transactions in accordance with applicable regulatory and internal requirements.

  • Monitor market, credit, liquidity, operational, and settlement risks, and promptly escalate significant exposures or breaches.

  • Support regulatory compliance and reporting relating to SEC, NGX, FMDQ, CBN, and other applicable capital market requirements and intermediaries.

  • Prepare investment research reports, portfolio performance reports, market updates, and presentation materials for management and weekly investment meetings.

  • Maintain effective working relationships with brokers, banks, custodians, counterparties, and internal teams, supporting trade execution, settlement, market intelligence, and investment-related enquiries.



  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; relevant postgraduate qualifications are an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the Nigerian capital markets, investment management, securities trading, treasury, asset management, or a related financial services environment.

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian capital market operations and regulations, including SEC, NGX, FMDQ, CBN requirements, and applicable investment and trading guidelines.

  • Demonstrated experience in investment research, securities analysis, trade execution, portfolio monitoring, valuation, and performance analysis across fixed income, equities, FX, or other approved asset classes.

  • SEC Sponsored Individual/SEC registration or relevant professional certification such as CFA, CIS, CISI, ACT, ACA/ACCA is an added advantage.

  • Excellent quantitative, financial, and qualitative analytical skills, with strong numerical ability and the capacity to interpret financial statements, market data, and economic indicators.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office tools, including financial modelling, data analysis, reporting, and presentation preparation.

  • Familiarity with capital market and financial information platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex market and financial information into clear investment recommendations, reports, and presentations.

  • Strong attention to detail, initiative, commercial awareness, time management, and ability to meet deadlines, with a diligent and proactive approach to investment analysis and trade support.
