Techrity is a non-profit that aims to bridge the gap in unemployment, gender inclusion and poverty by providing the vital resources needed to kickstart young talents into tech and build solutions for SDGs in Africa. We achieve this by providing vital resources such as laptop, browsing data, mentorship support, and inspire innovators and builders through our build4socialgood hackathon and incubation programme.

According to Quartz Africa, The African continent is the fastest-growing continent for developers globally, But this Large population of young and inexperienced coders require upskilling and education opportunities to boost their capabilities.

Talent Development

The kickstart programme is aimed at providing beginners and developers who learn programming with their phones or who are hindered by browsing data to access these vital resources such as providing personal laptop, internet browsing data, and Mentorship support needed to grow and sustain their careers in Tech. We are bridging this digital divide by providing 10, 000 Africans with internet browsing data in 10years, we believe this will go a long way to foster innovation in R&D and technology.

Social Innovations

The Build4SocialGood program is aimed to promote social innovation by bringing together innovators, thinkers and builders to ideate around these local African challenges and build solutions to tackle them, this program is aimed at encouraging Africans to innovate more in R&D in technology.

Position Overview

Techrity is seeking a creative, passionate, and detail-oriented Volunteer Graphics Designer to join our team. The Volunteer Graphics Designer will be responsible for creating compelling visual content that communicates Techrity’s programmes, initiatives, campaigns, and impact effectively across digital platforms.

This role is an opportunity for a creative professional to contribute their skills to meaningful projects while gaining practical experience working within a mission-driven organisation.

Responsibilities

Graphic Design & Visual Content

  • Create engaging graphics for Techrity’s programmes, campaigns, events, announcements, and social media platforms.
  • Develop visual assets that effectively communicate programme information, key messages, and organisational impact.
  • Design digital materials including social media posts, carousels, flyers, banners, presentations, certificates, and other branded materials.
  • Translate briefs and ideas into visually compelling designs that align with Techrity’s brand identity.

Brand Consistency

  • Ensure all designs adhere to Techrity’s visual identity, brand guidelines, and communication standards.
  • Maintain consistency in typography, layout, imagery, and overall visual direction across platforms.
  • Contribute ideas towards improving Techrity’s visual communication and creative direction.

Collaboration & Execution

  • Work closely with the Communications, Programs, and Creative teams to understand design requirements and deliver assets within agreed timelines.
  • Participate in creative brainstorming sessions and contribute fresh ideas to campaigns and initiatives.
  • Receive and implement feedback constructively while ensuring designs meet the intended objectives.

Creative Research & Development

  • Stay informed about current design trends, digital content formats, and visual communication best practices.
  • Explore creative approaches that can improve audience engagement and storytelling.
  • Develop innovative visual concepts for campaigns and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design, whether professionally, through freelance work, internships, or personal projects.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of visual composition, typography, colour, layout, and branding.
  • A good eye for detail and consistency.
  • Ability to interpret briefs and translate ideas into effective visual content.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple design requests and meet deadlines.
  • A creative mindset and willingness to learn and grow.
  • Passion for using creativity to support social impact and create opportunities for young people in the technology sector.
  • A portfolio of previous work is required.
