Accountant

Senior Accountant (Retail)

Location: Ikota, VGC, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-Time

Our client is seeking an experienced Accountant to oversee the company's accounting and financial operations across our retail, wholesale, e-commerce, and physical store channels.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced retail environment, has strong attention to detail, and can provide accurate financial reporting while helping the business make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage the company's daily accounting operations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Perform bank, POS and payment gateway reconciliations.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital.
• Maintain accurate financial records.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable.
• Oversee inventory accounting and stock valuation.
• Work closely with Operations and Warehouse teams to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Prepare budgets and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with tax, VAT and statutory regulations.
• Support management with financial analysis and business insights.
• Coordinate external audits when required.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Accountant, Accountant or Finance role within a retail or e-commerce business.
• Retail accounting experience is required.
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and stock reconciliation.
• Experience preparing management reports and financial statements.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Zoho Books, Sage, Odoo or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High level of integrity and attention to detail.

Experience within the beauty, cosmetics, skincare, pharmacy, fashion or FMCG industries is an advantage.
