Group Chief Operating Officer

We are seeking a Group Chief Operating Officer to provide overall operational leadership across a diversified business group with interests in Oil & Gas, Construction, Aviation Fuelling, Laboratory & Diagnostics, and other related businesses.

The role will be responsible for ensuring that the Group’s businesses operate cohesively, perform effectively and remain aligned with the Group’s overall direction, while driving operational excellence, commercial performance and sustainable growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide overall operational leadership across the Group and its subsidiaries, ensuring that businesses operate effectively and deliver against their commercial objectives.
  • Oversee the performance of the Group’s businesses, with responsibility for operational efficiency, profitability, cost control and sustainable growth.
  • Work with the finance function and business heads on budgets, P&L performance, cash flow, working capital and resource allocation.
  • Establish clear performance measures and reporting structures for business units and hold senior management accountable for results.
  • Identify operational and commercial issues across the businesses and lead the actions required to improve performance.
  • Lead major operational improvement, restructuring, transformation and business expansion initiatives across the Group.
  • Provide direction to subsidiary heads and senior management, ensuring alignment between the Group and its individual businesses.
  • Ensure appropriate governance, risk management, internal controls and regulatory compliance across the Group’s operations.



Requirements

  • 20+ years of senior leadership experience, with responsibility for running or overseeing significant business operations.
  • Current or previous experience within a diversified Group, holding company or conglomerate, with responsibility spanning multiple businesses, subsidiaries or operating companies.
  • Experience managing businesses across at least two relevant industries, preferably including Oil & Gas, Construction, Aviation/Aviation Fuelling, Healthcare/Diagnostics or other operationally intensive sectors.
  • A strong combination of operations, finance and business strategy, with responsibility for business performance and financial results.
  • Experience managing P&L, budgets, costs, cash flow and resource allocation at business or Group level.
  • A track record of improving business performance, increasing efficiency, controlling costs and supporting business growth.
  • Experience leading business transformation, restructuring, operational improvement or expansion within a complex organisation.
  • Strong commercial judgement, financial understanding and ability to make decisions across different businesses and operating environments.
