WE'RE HIRING: CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (CTO) / HEAD OF TECHNOLOGY

We are seeking a highly capable and hands-on Chief Technology Officer (CTO) / Head of Technology to take ownership of the technology ecosystem of a growing group of businesses with operations across approximately 17 locations.

The organisation operates across retail, hospitality and e-commerce, with technology playing an increasingly important role across inventory, sales, finance, customer experience, operations and management.

Our technology environment currently includes Odoo ERP, multiple websites/e-commerce platforms, hosting infrastructure, payment systems, inventory and operational systems, third-party applications and integrations.

We need someone who can bring these different systems together, understand how they support the business, identify gaps and risks, coordinate internal teams and external vendors, and provide management with clear technology leadership.

This is not a purely software-development role, nor is it simply an IT support position.

We are looking for someone who combines technical knowledge, business understanding, leadership and strong problem-solving ability.

As CTO / Head of Technology, you will:

• Take overall ownership of the organisation's technology infrastructure, systems and digital operations.

• Develop and execute a technology roadmap aligned with the organisation's growth and operational goals.

• Oversee the company's Odoo ERP environment, including workflows, integrations, users, vendors, upgrades and ongoing improvements.

• Work with Finance, Operations, Inventory/Warehouse, Retail, Hospitality and Management teams to ensure technology effectively supports business processes.

• Oversee the organisation's websites and e-commerce technology and coordinate with the E-commerce Manager and external web/technology partners.

• Ensure effective integration between ERP, websites, inventory, payment gateways and other business systems.

• Oversee hosting, domains, DNS, SSL, backups, servers/cloud infrastructure and other critical technology services.

• Establish strong cybersecurity, access-control, backup, disaster-recovery and business-continuity practices.

• Maintain proper documentation of company systems, integrations, technology assets, licences, accounts and administrative access.

• Manage and coordinate technology vendors, ERP consultants, developers, hosting providers and other external technology partners.

• Review vendor proposals, technology contracts and software recommendations before major technology investments are made.

• Identify inefficient, outdated or duplicated systems and recommend opportunities for consolidation, automation and improvement.

• Lead technology implementation, migration, integration and digital-transformation projects.

• Monitor the performance and reliability of business-critical systems and coordinate the resolution of technology incidents.

• Establish technology policies, SOPs and escalation procedures across the organisation.

• Manage, mentor and coordinate internal IT/technology personnel where applicable.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical solutions that can improve operational efficiency, customer experience and business performance.

• Provide technology advice to senior management and represent the technology function during relevant management, vendor and strategic meetings.

• Visit business locations when necessary to understand operational challenges and ensure technology systems are functioning effectively.

The ideal candidate should have:

• Strong professional experience in IT, technology operations, infrastructure, ERP or technology leadership.

• Experience managing or supporting ERP systems. Experience with Odoo is highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of websites and e-commerce technology.

• Working knowledge of hosting, domains, DNS, cloud/server infrastructure, backups and system administration.

• Understanding of APIs, integrations, databases and how different business systems exchange data.

• Good understanding of cybersecurity, access management and technology risk.

• Experience working with inventory, retail, POS, warehouse, hospitality or other operational business systems is an advantage.

• Experience managing technology across multiple business locations is highly desirable.

• Experience managing external technology vendors, developers, consultants and service providers.

• Strong project-management and implementation skills.

• Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills.

• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical management and employees.

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting ability.

• Good commercial judgement and the ability to evaluate technology based on business value, not technology alone.

• Strong documentation and process-development skills.

• Ability to quickly learn and take ownership of unfamiliar systems.

We are more interested in your demonstrated ability to take ownership of a complex business technology environment than your current job title.

You should be comfortable moving between strategic and practical responsibilities — from advising management on a major technology investment to working with an ERP consultant, web development team or infrastructure provider to resolve an operational problem.

You do not need to personally build every system or write every line of code.

However, you must understand technology well enough to evaluate solutions, ask the right questions, challenge vendors, manage specialists and remain accountable for the final outcome.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline is preferred.

• Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.

• Demonstrable experience managing business-critical technology systems is essential.

• Previous experience within retail, hospitality, e-commerce, FMCG, distribution or another multi-location business environment will be a strong advantage.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja.

The successful candidate must be based in Abuja or willing to relocate and must be available to work closely with management and operational teams across the organisation's locations.
