Headquartered in Geneva and with several field offices, HD operates in more than 20 countries with more than 350 colleagues.
In a context of organisational change and to strengthen our HR department, we are looking for a:
Bilingual HR Associate
Location: Abuja
Starting date: October 2026
Overall Purpose:
Reporting to the Regional HR Manager, the HR Associate plays a vital supporting role in HR operational functions for internal employees and external partners/consultants. The Associate collaborates closely with the Geneva HR Administrative Officer and also contributes to the broader HR activities. Aligned with organizational values and internal priorities, s/he contributes to the overall employee life cycle, from recruitment & on boarding to learning and development, ensuring a responsive and efficient HR service that enhances the stakeholder experience.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys building relationships, and takes pride in keeping HR processes running efficiently. And willing to relocate to Abuja.
Key responsibilities:
Employee life cycle support:
- Support the induction of new staff ;
- Support preparation of documentation for newcomers/leavers: HR entry/exit form, work permit and visa request.
Recruitment:
- Support recruitment process: job descriptions and job ads; selection, coordination of interviews and tests, communication with candidates, etc.
- Ensure the tracking of recruiting metrics and compile them into reports.
Personnel and consultancies administration:
- Provide first level responses to employees’ and consultants’ administrative queries;
- Assist in drafting documents: employment and consultancy contracts, renewals and amendments, work certificates, attestations, etc.
HR data and HRIS:
- Support proper archiving, organization, updating and cleaning of HR data in the systems;
- Support in the preparation of holiday accruals per trimester.
Payroll preparation support:
- Assist in Geneva payroll preparation, including collecting certificates, attestations and other documents related to variable pay elements (sick leave, maternity, allocations, etc.) ;
- Prepare the salary allocations for relevant budgets.
Learning & Development:
- Support communication and data storage for the performance appraisal process;
- Collect data on development needs and training requests, compiling them into a training plan;
- Assist in the identifying development and training solutions.
Internal/external audits:
- Support the provision of data and preparation of documents for audits;
- Support internal controls linked to personnel administration and consultants.
Other responsibilities:
- Contribute to the improvement and standardisation of HR processes, procedures, documents and tools;
- Contribute to the preparation and dissemination of HR news and internal HR communications;
- Act as the focal point for Executive Management timesheets;
- Review and validate consultants’ invoices in line with internal policies and donor requirements;
- Support the processing and follow-up of HR-related invoices.
Qualifications and professional skills:
- Degree or certificate in HR management; or degree in business administration and willingness to learn;
- At least 1 years’ experience in supporting HR management and HR data, preferably in a multicultural environment, (experience in recruitment or learning & development a plus);
- Excellent command of English and French;
- Proven experience with HRIS systems (e.g. Hubdrive would be a plus);
- Outstanding knowledge of MS Office;
- Good understanding of HR theories and good practices, and commitment to continuous learning;
- Detail-oriented, organised and conscientious;
- Capable of multi-tasking and of meeting tight deadlines;
- Customer-focused, with a great sense of team spirit;
- Discretion in the management of sensitive information.
