ROLE SUMMARY
The Senior Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's compliance management framework. The role ensures adherence to applicable regulatory requirements, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) obligations, data privacy regulations, and internal policies.
The Senior Compliance Specialist supports the design and execution of PayZeep's AML/CFT and regulatory-compliance programme, including monitoring, reporting and regulatory-liaison activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct AML/CFT transaction monitoring, KYC/CDD reviews and sanctions screening.
- Prepare and file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and other regulatory reports.
- Support compliance policy development, training and awareness programmes.
- Conduct compliance testing and monitoring reviews across business units.
- Track regulatory changes and support implementation of new requirements.
- Support CBN examinations and regulatory correspondence.
- Provide compliance advisory services to business units on new products, partnerships, and initiatives.
- Review and escalate unusual transaction patterns and potential financial crime risks.
- Prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs), Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), and other regulatory filings.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and recommend corrective actions.
- Conduct thematic reviews and compliance audits across departments.
- Monitor remediation of compliance issues and regulatory findings.
- Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.
- Ensure timely submission of regulatory returns and statutory reports.
- Develop and deliver compliance and AML/CFT training programs.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
- Maintain records of regulatory communications and submissions.
- Assist in maintaining the Compliance Management Framework.
- Conduct awareness sessions on regulatory developments and emerging compliance risks.
- Support implementation of compliance technology and automation initiatives.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required).
- CAMS or ICA compliance/AML certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Total Relevant Experience: 5–8 years
Fintech / Financial Services Experience: 3+ years in AML/CFT compliance within banking, payments or financial services

- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT regulations and KYC/CDD frameworks
- Experience with transaction-monitoring and screening systems

- Strong understanding of CBN regulations, NFIU guidelines, and fintech regulatory requirements.

REGULATORY CONSIDERATIONS (NIGERIA)
- Executes AML/CFT compliance activities under the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and CBN AML/CFT/CPF Regulations.
- Prepares STR/CTR filings to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
- Supports SCUML registration compliance and CBN regulatory examinations.
- Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
