IT & Communications Officer

4 Quarters Consultants

Remote

Our client, a leading energy provider based in VI, Lagos, is seeking an IT & Communications Officer. The IT & Communications Officer owns the information-technology and communications function end to end. The role keeps head-office IT running — hardware, network, email, accounts and data security — delivers and maintains data and communications installations at project and client sites, and acts as in-house administrator and first-line support for the company's ERP and business systems. It is a hands-on role that combines daily user support with project delivery, vendor management and system improvement.

Responsibilities:

IT Infrastructure & User Support
• Provide first-line support to all staff — laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices, email and productivity tools.
• Install, configure and maintain office hardware, operating systems and licensed software; keep an accurate IT asset register.
• Administer user accounts, email, file storage and access permissions across company's systems.
• Maintain the office LAN/WLAN, routers, switches, firewalls and internet links; troubleshoot connectivity issues through to resolution.
• Run backups, antivirus, patching and basic cyber-security controls, and maintain a workable disaster-recovery position.

Site Communications

• Design and deliver data and communications for project and client sites — structured cabling, network points, switches, wireless links and internet connectivity.
• Set up and maintain remote monitoring and telemetry links for generator, PV and CNG assets, including SIM/router provisioning and connectivity uptime.
• Install and maintain CCTV, access-control and site telephony systems where required.
• Liaise with ISPs and telecom vendors on site links — provisioning, faults, escalation and service levels.
• Produce as-built documentation, cable schedules and network layouts for every site.

Site Installation — Data & Communications Works

• Prepare material take-offs, BOQs and cost estimates for the data and communications package on each project.
• Supervise contractors and technicians carrying out site installations; enforce workmanship, labeling and testing standards.
• Test and commission installed networks (cable certification, link testing) and hand over with complete test records.
• Ensure all installation works comply with HSE requirements, site rules and client specifications.

ERP & Business Systems

• Act as in-house administrator for ERP and business systems — user setup, roles and permissions, module configuration and routine maintenance.
• Support daily users across operations, maintenance, procurement and finance; resolve issues and escalate to the vendor where necessary.
• Build and maintain reports, dashboards, forms and workflows that match the company's actual processes.
• Support data migration, master-data quality and integration between the ERP and other tools.
• Train staff on system use and maintain user guides and standard operating procedures.

Vendor, Procurement & Reporting

• Source and evaluate IT and communications suppliers; prepare comparisons and recommendations for approval.
• Manage IT purchases, license renewals, service contracts and warranties.
• Maintain IT policies, SOPs, inventory records and system documentation.
• Report monthly on IT status, open issues, site connectivity uptime and planned works.

Requirements
