Field Engineer - Mechanical

Our client, a leading power generator company headquartered in VI, Lagos, is seeking a qualified Field Engineer (Mechanical). The Field Engineer (Mechanical) delivers mechanical maintenance, servicing, repairs and overhaul support on our client's diesel and gas generator engines. Working in the workshop and on client sites, the role keeps engines reliable and correctly serviced, carries out mechanical installation and commissioning support, and troubleshoots and repairs faults in the field.

Responsibilities:

Fleet – Engine Maintenance & Repair:

· Perform scheduled servicing and preventive maintenance across the generator fleet (oil/filters, cooling, fuel, belts, valve checks).

· Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across fuel, cooling, lubrication, air/exhaust, gas-train and starting systems.

· Support top-end and major overhauls in the workshop and record work carried out.

· Carry out mechanical installation of gensets — positioning, mounting, alignment, cooling/radiator, exhaust and fuel/gas connections.

· Support commissioning, first-start and run-in checks to OEM specification.

· Work from mechanical drawings and installation manuals; support handover.

Service & Maintenance (S&M) – Site Service:

· Attend client sites under service contracts for scheduled servicing and breakdown response.

· Troubleshoot mechanical site issues and carry out repairs, minimising client downtime.

· Complete service checklists, reports and parts records.

HSE & Quality:

· Work to HSE standards, permit-to-work and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) at all times.

· Apply standard testing and QA/QC checks; report incidents and near-misses.

· B.Eng in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering — a full engineering degree is required for this role.

· Minimum 5 years' relevant post-graduation experience in a relevant scope of work — diesel and gas generator engines across fleet, projects and service.

· Hands-on experience with major brands (e.g. Caterpillar, Cummins, Perkins, MWM, Jenbacher, Volvo, Scania) is an advantage.

· Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites at short notice.
