Our client is a growing founder-led business group operating within technology-enabled and service-driven sectors. The organisation is focused on strengthening operational excellence, workforce performance, and organisational effectiveness and is seeking an experienced HR leader to support its next phase of growth.


Position Overview

Our client is seeking a commercially minded and execution-driven HR leader to strengthen the people function and support the organisation's continued growth. Reporting to the Group CEO, the role will provide strategic and operational HR leadership across workforce effectiveness, performance management, employee relations, organisational improvement, and people development.


The successful candidate will possess the emotional intelligence, judgement, and professional confidence to support the Founder’s vision while introducing appropriate structure, accountability, and HR best practices. The role requires an individual who can influence senior stakeholders, challenge constructively when required, and lead the people agenda across a growing and evolving business environment.


Key Responsibilities

Human Resource Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that support organisational objectives and workforce effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to address workforce challenges and implement people solutions that support business performance.
  • Provide strategic guidance on organisational structure, workforce planning, employee matters, and people-related decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance accountability, performance, and employee engagement across the organisation.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable employment legislation, regulations, and HR best practices.


Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Lead workforce planning activities to ensure appropriate staffing levels and organisational capability.
  • Oversee recruitment and onboarding processes to attract, assess, and retain high-quality talent.
  • Identify current and future talent requirements in collaboration with business leaders.
  • Evaluate workforce needs and contribute to organisational structuring and manpower optimisation initiatives.


Performance Management & Employee Relations

  • Lead the continuous improvement of performance management frameworks across the organisation.
  • Guide managers in setting performance expectations, managing underperformance, and promoting accountability.
  • Manage employee relations matters including disciplinary processes, investigations, grievances, and employee exits.
  • Provide expert advice on complex employee issues while ensuring fairness, consistency, and compliance


Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations

  • Oversee the effective administration of compensation, grading, benefits, and payroll control processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure effective HR documentation and reporting.
  • Review HR processes and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and service delivery.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements across HR operations.


Organisational Development & Leadership Support

  • Facilitate leadership development, succession planning, and employee capability-building initiatives.
  • Lead change initiatives aimed at improving workforce effectiveness and organisational performance.
  • Advise leaders on culture, employee engagement, and management effectiveness.
  • Promote people practices that support a high-performance and accountable work environment.


HR Reporting & Team Leadership

  • Prepare and present HR reports, workforce metrics, and people insights to support management decision-making.
  • Analyse key HR indicators and recommend actions to address emerging workforce trends and challenges.
  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the HR team to ensure effective service delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a professional, service-oriented, and high-performing HR function.


Key Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Psychology, Business Administration, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, HRCI, CIPD, or equivalent) is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive HR experience, including experience in a senior HR leadership role.
  • Proven ability to translate HR strategy into measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience managing diverse workforce groups, including frontline, operational, technical, commercial, and corporate employees.
  • Sound knowledge of Nigerian employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Strong experience in performance management, employee relations, disciplinary processes, investigations, and workforce restructuring.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders, drive accountability, and improve organisational performance.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting multi-site or multi-business operations.
  • Experience within hospitality, retail, services, manufacturing, logistics, or similar operational environments.
