Finance & Accounts Lead

Bardge

Remote

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance & Accounts Lead to own Bardge’s financial operations and accounting function. This role is critical to ensuring accurate record-keeping, timely reporting, and strong financial controls as we grow. Bardge connects users, wellness providers and distribution partners, and you will ensure transactions are accurately recorded, providers are correctly settled, partner balances are collected and management has a clear view of cash, revenue, costs and outstanding obligations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and comfortable working with numbers and financial systems. You’ll play a key role in maintaining our books, reconciling transactions, supporting payment operations, and helping the business stay financially disciplined.

This is a hands-on ownership role: you will run the finance function end to end, initially without direct reports, and build practical processes that reduce manual work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate financial records
  • Lead the invoicing and collections process for business clients, ensuring timely follow-up and accurate tracking of receivables.
  • Manage payments to service providers, ensuring settlements are made accurately and on schedule.
  • Support monthly financial reporting, including cash flow, P&L, and balance sheet reports.
  • Ensure payroll is accurate and disbursed on schedule
  • Prepare reconciliations for bank accounts, payment gateways, and partner settlements.
  • Assist in preparing financial statements and compliance filings.
  • Work with operations and growth teams to support financial planning and budget tracking.
  • Flag discrepancies, suggest improvements to processes, and help uphold strong internal controls.
  • Liaise with external accountants/auditors as needed.
  • Reconcile visits, partner billing, provider entitlements, payment records and bank transactions, investigating differences rather than forcing balances to agree.
  • Follow up on partner invoices, outstanding balances and disputes through to resolution.
  • Produce a weekly cash position and short-term cash forecast, flagging collection delays or payment pressures early.
  • Maintain a finance calendar, close outstanding items and escalate exceptions with a clear recommendation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of relevant accounting and finance operations experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets); experience with accounting tools is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles.
  • Highly reliable and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to team success.
  • Must own a laptop and have reliable internet access.
  • Direct responsibility for reconciliations, payables, receivables and month-end close.
  • Experience in a business with frequent transactions and payments to multiple vendors or partners. Marketplace, payments, HMO, hospitality or subscription experience is a plus.
  • Strong spreadsheet skills, including lookups, pivot tables and reconciling large datasets.
  • Practical experience using accounting software and producing management accounts.
  • Ability to distinguish transaction volume, recognized revenue, gross profit and available cash, as well as provider payables, customer credits and other liabilities, and reflect this correctly in reporting.
  • Keeps clear supporting records, follows approval processes and raises mistakes promptly, including their own.
  • Clear communicator who can explain financial movements to management and handle payment questions professionally with providers and partners.
  • ICAN or ACCA qualification, or meaningful progress towards one, is desirable.
  • SQL, Metabase or workflow automation experience is an advantage.

Benefits:

  • Salary: ₦400,000 - ₦450,000 per month
  • Gym & Spa Passes worth +₦500,000/annum
  • Health Insurance
  • Opportunities for growth within a fast-growing startup
  • Work with a driven, mission-aligned team
  • Remote-friendly setup
  • Exposure to a dynamic business environment and cross-functional collaboration
