About Okra
At Okra Solar, we’re on a mission to bring Power to the People by unlocking opportunities through energy access for everyone in the world.
Over 650 million people still live without electricity. At a time when technology such as mobile devices, productive agritech, and AI are becoming more accessible than ever, we believe that access to energy is the first step toward opportunity and growth.
That’s why we build our Mesh Grid technology that energizes off-grid households at a fraction of the cost of other solutions. We build the hardware and software that we sell to local energy companies, who deploy our tech to deliver affordable, reliable electricity as a service to last-mile communities.
Nigeria is one of our fastest-growing markets, with active deployments across multiple states and partners. That growth is only as strong as the hardware pipeline behind it. Every panel, Mozaik unit, cable reel, and connector that reaches a household passes through the hands of the person in this role.
In order to execute on the mission to 100% energy access for all, we are looking for a Warehouse & Logistics Specialist.
The Warehouse & Logistics Specialist supports the day-to-day movement, handling, and documentation of equipment across Okra Solar’s Nigeria operations. The role coordinates inbound deliveries, warehouse dispatches, transfers to installation, equipment returns, and client handovers. It keeps operational records current, follows established procedures, flags exceptions promptly, and helps the Aftersales & Support team maintain reliable deployment flow.
You will be the person who says "no equipment leaves without documentation" — and makes that stick.
If you’re excited about this role and want to be part of our challenging mission, you could be the right person to join us.
Responsibilities
Stock Management & Control
- Own end-to-end stock control for the Nigeria office and warehouse: receipt, storage, categorisation, labelling and dispatch.
- Maintain a single source of truth for all inventory (Zoho Inventory / Airtable / Google Sheets) with SKU and serial-level accuracy.
- Notify the Inventory Manager of low availability, damaged items, missing documentation, or other issues that may affect planned work.
Inventory Movement: Warehouse to Partner
- Coordinate and document all inventory movement from the Nigeria warehouse to installation partners, repair partners, and field teams.
- Ensure every outbound movement carries a waybill, serial list, and confirmed recipient.
- Track equipment in transit until receipt is confirmed at destination — nothing sits in limbo.
- Reconcile dispatched vs. received quantities and escalate discrepancies within 24 hours.
Stock Take, Issuance Monitoring & Compliance
- Run scheduled stock takes (monthly at minimum, plus ad-hoc counts) and reconcile physical count against system records.
- Monitor issuance to installers and partners: who took what, when, for which site, and what came back.
- Enforce compliance with issuance and return procedures; document and escalate non-compliance.
Refurbished & Repaired Equipment Inventory
- Maintain a separate, clearly tracked inventory of refurbished and repaired items.
- Work with the Repair & Warranty Operations Specialist to log items entering and leaving the repair loop.
- Grade, categorise and record refurbished stock so it can be confidently redeployed.
- Manage shipment of refurbished or repaired equipment back out to clients and partners, with full documentation.
Equipment Handover & Sign-Off
- Prepare and execute equipment handover documentation with clients.
- Ensure handover sheets are signed, serial-verified and filed before equipment changes custody.
- Maintain a retrievable archive of all signed handovers for audit, warranty and dispute resolution.
Imports, Clearing & Logistics
- Manage receipt of items and equipment shipped from Okra China and other origins.
- Support clearing conversations and manage the relationship with local clearing agents as required.
- Track shipments through customs, flag delays early, and keep the A&S team informed on ETAs.
- Verify inbound shipments against packing lists and raise short-shipment or damage claims promptly.
- Resolve day-to-day logistics and inventory issues as they arise.
Hard Skills
- Proven experience in inventory, stores, warehouse or supply chain.
- Strong working knowledge of inventory management systems (Zoho Inventory, Odoo, SAP or similar).
- Confident with spreadsheets: reconciliation, pivot tables, variance analysis.
- Familiarity with import documentation, customs clearing processes and freight forwarding in Nigeria.
- Ability to produce clean, accurate operational reports without prompting.
- Comfortable with serial-number-level tracking and asset registers.
- Tools you'll use: Zoho Inventory · Airtable · Harvest & Barn · Google Sheets · Confluence · Slack · Periskope.
Soft Skills
- Firm but collaborative: Able to enforce process with partners and colleagues without damaging relationships.
- Attention to detail: Meticulous; allergic to "we'll sort the paperwork later".
- Strong written communication: Your records will be read by people who weren't there.
- Self-directed and organised: Capable of running a function with light supervision.
- Calm under pressure: Steady when everyone wants stock released yesterday.
Required Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years in inventory, warehouse, logistics or supply chain management.
- Demonstrated ownership of a stock function, including stock takes and reconciliation.
- Experience managing third-party relationships (clearing agents, transporters, partners).
- Based in or willing to relocate to Abuja, with willingness to travel to field sites.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the solar, renewable energy, telecoms or electronics hardware sector.
- Exposure to reverse logistics, repair loops or refurbished equipment management.
- Familiarity with Airtable, Confluence and Slack as day-to-day work tools.
- Prior experience supporting multi-state or multi-partner operations.
- Professional certification in supply chain or logistics (CIPS, CILT or similar).
Growth Opportunities
- Own and scale the inventory function as Okra Nigeria grows across new states and clients.
- Build the systems and SOPs that future markets will inherit.
- Exposure to end-to-end deployment operations, from China shipment to household connection.
- Pathway toward Supply Chain / Operations leadership as the Nigeria portfolio expands.
